To increase the awareness of malnutrition in the primary health care staff (doctors, dietitians, nurses) and to increase the number of patients who are able to reach nutritional therapy by identifying risk groups of patients and providing admiration to upper health care institutions, education programs on "increasing awareness of malnutrition among primary care health professionals in Turkey" were conducted by KEPAN during June 2019 in Ankara with participation of 499 clinicians and in Izmir with participation of 219 clinicians. Besides, more education programs were conducted in Adana with 117 participants in February 20, 2020, in Samsun with 93 participants in February 28, 2020 and in Kayseri with 70 participants in March 6, 2020.

Total of 998 clinicians participated in these education programs.

Importance of malnutrition, detection of malnutrition in terms of evaluation and screening methods, case studies pediatrics and geriatrics malnourished patients, general approach to enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition and oral nutrition supplements and management of malnutrition in primary care were discussed by lecturers and participants.

This project was awarded by Medical Nutrition Industry (MNI) GROW2 Grant in 2018.
